BODRUM
Bodrum (ancient Halicarnassus) is situated on a peninsula facing the island of
Kos (Greek Island), and is the hometown of Heredutus, known to some as the
"Father of History". Bodrum is a little port, located about 270 km.
south of Izmir, on the Aegean coast of Turkey. The main industries are:
fishing, boat-building, agriculture, weaving and tourism, which has become the
most important industry in the last few years. Bodrum, the native land of the
famous historian Heredot, is an important tourism center in Turkey, which
attracts attention for its natural beauties as well as its history.
Bodrum
on the north shore of the gulf of Gokova in Turkey, was the home
of the first "Blue Voyager", Cevat Sakir Kabaagac or the
"Fisherman of Halikarnas".It is the undisputed "hot-spot"
of the Agean Coast.This swinging, singing, dancing town, with its bohemian
atmosphere, gathers together Turkey's artrist, intellectuals and lovers of good
life

Bodrum
Castle: An impressive medieval castle built by the Knights of
Rhodes guards the entrance to Bodrum's dazzling blue bay, in which the
Aegean and Mediterranean Seas meet.The Bodrum castle know houses the
Museum of Underwater Archaelogy.Known in ancient ti mes as Halicarnassus,
Bodrum is the birthplace of Heredotus and the site of King Mausolus's Tomb(4Th
century B.C.), one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
Marina:The
yearly throng of visitors has encouraged small entrepreneurs who have made
shopping in Bodrum a delight. Souvenirs abound,and on certain streets local
artists gather to sell their works that come in all forms.
The Bodrum Marina is one of the loveliest and best-equipped marinas in the
region.
